Sessions can be delivered on campus or, if you are local to Keele, in your school/college. All events are subject to staff and space availability. Please specify your topic preference in your request. Talks can be adapted to last for anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour.

Sessions include:

Accounting at the Oscars - What are the roles of accounting in these Oscars winning films - Schindler's List (1993), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)? In this session participants are encouraged to explore the relevance of accounting and accountants in movies and understand their important roles in constructing social justice.

Determining a Price for an Everyday Product - Would you like to understand how the final price for an everyday product is determined? In this session a member of the Accounting teaching team from Keele Management School will introduce key considerations involved in costing a product.

Financial Crisis: Its Nature and Consequences - The effects of the 2007/08 financial crisis have reverberated globally, giving rise to the “Great Recession” where many countries have subsequently experienced a long period of depressed economic growth. This talk examines the nature of the crisis, its repercussions and the potential effectiveness of the policy response.

Ideas to Innovation - A workshop for students to come up with new ideas using their own innovation – nothing is off the table and creativity is key. The session is an interactive experience, which introduces students to business models and their purpose within a business.

Investment Risk - Return Tradeoff - This interactive workshop illustrates a measure of investment risk and how it can be reduced. Participants aim to increase their wealth by using three funds for investment, each with different characteristics.

Market Experiment - In this interactive workshop participants experiment with key economic concepts. Participants act out the interaction of profit maximizing producers and utility maximizing consumers in a ‘Pit Market’ to determine the price and quantity traded of a good.

Poster Making Exercise - After a short briefing talk, outlining the principles of marketing and studies of consumer behaviour, participants will work in small groups to collaborate on and prepare a marketing campaign poster.

Public Goods Experiment - This experiment allows participants to discover the tension between selfish gain and altruism in the public good provision by choosing their contribution to a public fund.

What is Business Culture? - Following a short talk on what culture is in general, this interactive workshop encourages students to explore business 'artifacts' in order to discover what they can communicate about culture in the workplace.

Why Are Women Paid Less Than Men? - Statistics and case studies will be provided to illustrate the extent of gender pay inequality in the UK and beyond. Then participants will be invited to discuss why gender pay gap persists despite the recent improvement in equal pay legislation.
