Solent University are hosting a virtual ‘Get ready to discover Sport & Fitness’ Discovery Day on Thursday the 1st of July, for students who are interested in finding out more about studying Sport & Fitness at University and sampling some of the different options available.

There are so many exciting and innovative courses in Sport and Fitness available at university, which can lead to a wide variety of interesting and engaging careers to suit all ambitions.

This Discovery Day will include taster sessions which will give participants an insight into the subject, along with developing their subject knowledge to support them with their progression into Higher Education and beyond.

The sessions available are:
10:00am - 11:00am
-Health, Nutrition & Exercise Science (with Personal Training Pathway) – “How sport and
fitness saves lives”
-This session will look into how sport and exercise prevents people developing life
threatening diseases such as Cancer, Heart disease and Stroke, and what jobs
graduates have gone into following the Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science course
which have made a difference to peoples’ lives.

12:30pm – 1:30pm
-Physical education in practice: making a difference
-In this session we will be focusing on Physical Education, and we will look to gaining an
understanding of the necessary skills needed to teach and make a difference to young
people lives.
This session will briefly examine the meaning of teaching and learning, with a view to
identifying core values, and its place in the wider society.

3:30pm - 4:30pm
-Sports Management - “A day in the life… discovering the diversity in sports management
careers”
-Sports management and the wider leisure industry is diverse, dynamic and ever
changing. Using real examples this session will explore themes that stretch across the
industry from sports development to event organisation, extreme adventure sports to
nature therapy and finally sport specific interests such as football and business and the
growth of these sectors.
Through the session you will experience a “day in the life” of an exciting range of
careers that will inspire you and which you could go on to study on our BSc Sport
Management degree with specialist pathways.

For this event, interested students can choose to attend selected sessions or choose to attend them all to get a real understanding of the range of options available to anyone looking to study this exciting subject at university.
