Our series of virtual twilight lectures are aimed at students currently studying at Level 3, to complement their studies and/or to provide an insight into studying a range of disciplines at degree level. Please note you must be 16 years of age or over to attend this lecture.

We are all aware of climate change and the increasing number of extreme weather events from storms floods and heatwaves. However, planners and engineers have focused on coastal defences and protecting services and property from floods rather than the effects of extreme heat. This talk will describe some of the effects of heat stress on people as well as the built environment and the importance of nature based solutions to mitigate this in urban areas.
