A 2 year programme is open to Year 12 pupils from non-selective state schools in Wadham’s link regions: Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Luton and the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Havering, Islington, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets. All students selected must be eligible for free school meals.
The two-year programme will engage sixth formers in a series of academic sessions to develop the skills needed to study law at university. Participants will also receive A-level tutoring support as well as university application and career advice. The programme will adopt a blended approach with a mixture of online sessions alongside face-to-face sessions including visits to Wadham College, Oxford’s Law Faculty and Linklaters London office.
Each student will benefit from:
• An academic programme of 8 sessions designed to develop skills and knowledge relevant to studying Law at the University of Oxford
• 20 hours of 1-1 A-level tutoring (in a subject of their choice)
• Visits to the University of Oxford and Linklaters LLP London office
• Developing career awareness sessions with Linklaters
• University application and interview support (including the LNAT)
• A tutorial with Oxford law tutors
• Free laptop and technical support for those in need
The programme is free with the sessions predominantly delivered online. The programme will help pupils to develop their critical thinking, oral advocacy and understanding of what studying Law at a top university is like.
Applications are open to students interested in studying law or related subjects at university. To be eligible, pupils must be:
• In Year 12
• Attend a non-selective state school
• Eligible for Free School Meals (or Ever6 FSM)
• From one of the following areas: Barking and Dagenham, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hackney, Havering, Islington, Luton, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.
