We welcome you to join our Orthoptic taster session, where we will provide you with an insight into the role of an Orthoptist and an overview of the Orthoptics programme at the University of Sheffield.

We will then deliver a micro-teaching session titled: The Eyes and Orthoptics: An overview

This session is designed to give you an idea of the subject matter and experience a university-grade lecture. The aims of this session are:

To provide a basic introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the eyes
To introduce some simple ocular terminology
To consider what is ‘normal’ regarding the use of the two eyes
To examine the consequences of strabismus
Following this there will be a short quiz and a Q&A session where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.
