We run subject workshops for Year 12 students which can be delivered at your school or college or at City, University of London.
LINGUISTICS AT CITY
Our Linguistics degree develops a deep understanding of language and speech, and provides opportunities to develop a range of essential workplace-related skills.

Our Linguistics department run a variety of sessions available for schools and colleges, including talks on what it is like to study Linguistics at university and taster lectures to give students a feel for university level study in the subject.
ACTIVITIES WE OFFER
We run sessions in the following topics:
- Language and media
- Language and gender
- Analysing texts (using all levels of linguistic structure, e.g. phonology, grammar, semantics, pragmatics, discourse)
- Language variation
- History of English
- Child language acquisition
If you are an A Level Language teacher and there is a topic not on this list that you would want us to offer your students, then please do make contact to discuss.

WHO CAN BOOK THESE EVENTS
- This event is only for teachers making bookings for their school groups.
- These workshops are only suitable for year 12 and 13 (pre UCAS deadline) students.

HOW MUCH DO THESE ACTIVITIES COST?
- All of our activities are free!
- However we unfortunately cannot cover transport or food costs.
WHERE IS CITY LOCATED?
- City is based in Central London, so we do not have anywhere for coaches to park.
- We are located a short walk from Farringdon (Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Circle, Elizabeth, Thameslink and Great Northern lines) and Angel (Northern Line) stations
All activities are subject to availability of City staff. Whilst we do our best to accommodate requests, we reserve the right to decline bookings if we do not have capacity to deliver them.
