COMPUTING PATHWAYS AT CITY

There are many pathways studying computing can take students. Data Science is the fastest growing field of technology, and as a qualified data scientist students will be in demand for well-paid roles across businesses and government organisations. At City, we bring together foundational computer scientists skills such as algorithmic thinking and programming with fundamental data scientist skills such as statistical analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, analytics and visual analytics

Our Computer Science department run a variety of sessions available for schools and colleges, including talks on what it is like to study computer science and data science at university and taster lectures to give students a feel for university level study in the subject.

ACTIVITES WE OFFER

We run the following session types:

TASTER SESSION

We run interactive taster sessions that introduce students to studying computing and data science at university level.

WHY STUDY TALK

We can run a session which explores the different computing pathways available to students, especially within the ever-growing field of data science. The session can also cover what it's like to study this subject at university, and different career paths in this field.

WHO CAN BOOK THESE EVENTS

- This event is only for teachers making bookings for their school groups.

- These workshops are only suitable for year 12 and 13 (pre UCAS deadline) students.

Visits to City including department sessions usually last a half day. We usually include a why study talk, a taster session and a campus tour.

HOW MUCH DO THESE ACTIVITIES COST?

- All of our activities are free!

- However we unfortunately cannot cover transport or food costs for school groups if you're visiting City's campus. 

WHERE IS CITY LOCATED?

- City is based in Central London, so we do not have anywhere for coaches to park.

- We are located a short walk from Farringdon (Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Circle, Elizabeth, Thameslink and Great Northern lines) and Angel (Northern Line) stations

All activities are subject to availability of City staff. Whilst we do our best to accommodate requests, we reserve the right to decline bookings if we do not have capacity to deliver them.
