Careers in Creative Industries
The University’s 3,000 creative industries students call our vibrant Cardiff Campus their home. In this session, students will learn more about the courses on offer – from drama, graphics and fashion design, to TV and film set design, music business and documentary photography - and how our state-of-the-art facilities and impressive industry links ensure that our students are ready to embark on a career in this billion-pound industry after graduation.

Focus on Auditions
What happens when you are called in for an audition? Your first reaction might be to get very nervous so, how can you use this to your advantage? Remember; nerves are normal! This workshop will invite you to recognise the blocks that all performers go through and incorporate them as a positive working tool to help you get closer to that job.

How to Read a Script (for Radio/Film/Stage)
So, how exactly do we read a script? First, we need to note what type of script it is. Radio? Film? Stage? They are all formatted differently from each other but have one thing in common – a story! Reading scripts is vital toward immersing oneself in character and the scripted world. Finding the main plot is easy but what about the sub-plot? Character relationships? Physical traits? Emotional highs and lows? Comedic moments? This workshop will guide potential student writers/actors/directors toward digging deep into a text to study its structure, characters, themes, style and so forth.

Exploring Theatre Devising
In this online interactive session, students will explore approaches and techniques to devising theatre work. Students will be introduced to the ways that different companies have devised work, participate in online group activities, and learn tips and techniques for devising and bringing ideas to life on stage.

Approaching Acting Through Character
