Full event details

Students will make a piece of jewellery using traditional jewellery techniques, including shaping, filing and soldering metal; techniques which have not changed in hundreds of years. They will also be introduced to the wonderful world of wearable art as jewellery through the exploration of materials, scale, wearability, concept, techniques and technology. They can discover what makes a clock tick, how clocks tell time, why they are designed the way they are, and what stops them from working. Students will learn to tell the difference between rare and valuable gemstones, common ones and even fakes through the study of gemmology. All the necessary tools, equipment and materials will be provided.
