Full event details

Our Access Programme offers you the support and guidance to navigate your post-16 education options. It aims to help you make more informed choices about your future and the steps you need to take to get there.

The programme is completely free, and offers you all the tools you might need to shape your own journey.

The programme includes a variety of on-campus university visits and online content to help you make informed decisions. There are no compulsory elements of the programme, which means you can choose to book onto the events that are most useful or interesting to you.

The programme is aimed at all students who are currently in Year 12 or 13, or those students considering returning to education as a mature student. Any student from across the UK can apply. All students will have access to our universal offer, which includes a hub of information, advice and guidance as well as online support and access to our Student Ambassadors via Unibuddy.

Access Plus
Students who meet our more targeted criteria will be able to sign up to additional events as part of our Access Plus Programme.

Academic Masterclass
Led by our academics, these on-campus sessions give you the opportunity to explore a subject in more depth. These events are limited in number, providing more opportunities for students to interact with our academics and student ambassadors.

Multi Subject Experience
Led by our academics, this on-campus day gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects that you could study. Some of these days will have a broad range of subjects from a mixture of academic disciplines. Other days might focus more on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects or Humanities and Social Sciences subjects.

All of these events give you the chance to interact closely with academics and student ambassadors. Alongside the exploring the subject you can also attend a campus tour and University information session.

Summer Programme
This programme combines online and in-person learning to give you the opportunity to study your chosen subject with our academics and stay on campus to learn about student life at Sussex.

Sussex Access Buddy Programme
This programme is designed to provide peer-to-peer support for University of Sussex offer holders. You will have a student buddy point of contact throughout the summer and beyond, guidance in the build-up to results day and buddy contact in the first term of study. You will have access to Unibuddy, our online communication channel, group Zoom sessions covering key transition topics and two in-person group events.

MyTutor
If you are in the final year of your exams, you have the option to participate in our free A-level MyTutor online sessions, where you are matched with subject-specific tutors from UK universities. You will attend ten weekly sessions, starting in the January of your final year, to help you achieve your target grades in one subject of your choice. Tutoring sessions will be recorded for you to view again. Each 1-hour session will be stored on the MyTutor platform for two weeks before being deleted permanently.

Additional support
All students on the programme will also have access to our Student Ambassadors via Unibuddy. Students who meet our Access Plus criteria will also have the opportunity to apply for additional exam support via MyTutor, further on-campus events and opportunities to explore the local area, including Brighton.

After signing up to our Access Programme, we will assess whether or not you are eligible to access the additional resources and events on our Access Plus Programme.
