EMERGING ENGINEERING

At City we offer a mixture of traditional Engineering courses as well as new and emerging Engineering disciplines to train a diverse future Engineering workforce.

The Engineering courses we offer are:

- Aerospace Engineering

- Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering

- Civil and Infrastructure Engineering

- Energy and Sustainability Engineering

- Engineering Systems

- Engineering with Business

- Mechanical and Design Engineering

Our Engineering department run a variety of sessions available for schools and colleges, including talks on what it is like to study Engineering at university and taster lectures to give students a feel for university level study in the subject.

ACTIVITY DETAILS

We run the following session types:

  • TASTER SESSION: We run interactive taster sessions that introduce students to studying Engineering at university level. Sessions run at City are usually delivered in our Engineering labs, but we can also adapt some of our taster sessions to be delivered in your classroom.
  • WHY STUDY TALK: We can run a session which introduces Engineering and the pathways available, what it's like to study this subject at university, and different career paths in this field.

WHO CAN BOOK THESE EVENTS

  • This event is only for teachers making bookings for their school groups.
  • These workshops are only suitable for year 12 and 13 (pre UCAS deadline) students.

Visits to City including department sessions usually last a half day. We usually include a why study talk, a taster session and a campus tour.

HOW MUCH DO THESE ACTIVITIES COST?

  • All of our activities are free!
  • However we unfortunately cannot cover transport or food costs for school groups if you're visiting City's campus. 

 

WHERE IS CITY LOCATED?

  • City is based in Central London, so we do not have anywhere for coaches to park.
  • We are located a short walk from Farringdon (Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Circle, Elizabeth, Thameslink and Great Northern lines) and Angel (Northern Line) stations

 

All activities are subject to availability of City staff. Whilst we do our best to accommodate requests, we reserve the right to decline bookings if we do not have capacity to deliver them.
