The aim of this session is to get the students thinking and talking about a topic which surveys have shown young people to view as the most important economic issue of the day: inequality.
Economic Inequality: Should We Encourage, Tolerate or Reduce
Steven introduces the topic of inequality (which a national survey of economics undergraduates identified as their number one economic concern). The guests are then divided into breakout groups to discuss some questions about inequality, with each group led by one of our PhD students. Then the groups will come back together as a full group to summarise the group discussions, and Steven will point out some of the work done in the department on inequality. The session will finish with a Q&A allowing them to ask any general questions they have about studying, Sheffield or economics.
