Session time: Thursday 30 November, 14.15-15.00

In this Sociology session, Dr Shannon Philip, Lecturer in Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of East Anglia, will run an interactive talk for students on Global Development.

The session will introduce students to Global Sociology to explore the connections between the UK and the Global South in particular. We will explore social theories of race, gender, colonialism as well as modernity and development.

In particular we will focus on how connected and interwoven social lives are across the world by looking at Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia in relation to the UK.

The session requires no prior knowledge, just bring an open and enquiring mind.

Suitable for: Year 12 & 13 students (and equivalent) studying, or with a possible interest in studying, Sociology, Human Geography and related disciplines.
