Full event details

This half-day workshop is aimed at teachers interested in knowing more about the resources and tools available to make classes more focused around practical skills within technology and design. It will also be an opportunity to visit the exciting MechSpace and to share positive and good practice examples and experiences with colleagues.

There will be a free networking lunch followed by training on using the Autodesk tools for design. Teachers will be able to manufacture some of their designs using our CNC machines, 3D printers and/or laser cutters. The second part of the event will be dedicated to examples of good practice, establishing a network for sharing successful initiatives and to circulate knowledge about useful resources for subject teaching. The afternoon will offer inspiration and a chance to explore possible pathways for aligning techniques with your teaching.

About MechSpace (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/mechanical-engineering/about/facilities/mechspace)

UCL's MechSpace is a student hub for designing and building practical projects. The facility spans six levels, with some 12,000 square feet of space and an array of well-equipped workshops and study spaces: this is a space where students can unleash their creativity to its fullest. The building also serves as a Central London base for the global STEM outreach organisation F1 in Schools, which UCL Mechanical Engineering has collaborated with for several years.
