This online taster session will give you an insight into what it's like to study Biosciences at university. You'll have the chance to hear from one of our academics, participate in a taster lecture and engage with current undergraduates.
Why are we not immortal? The biology of ageing
Ageing is one of the biggest challenges, and opportunities, facing our world. During ageing, all physiology breaks down in an unpredictable way. But does this mean we’ll never be able to understand the mechanisms of ageing and extend our lifespan? Or could it mean that treating ageing will cure many age-related diseases at the same time?
This taster session will be led by Dr Mirre Simons, a leading researcher in the field of ageing. We’ll cover the biology of ageing and give you the chance to learn about the recent progress that’s been made in understanding the science of ageing from both an evolutionary and biomedical perspective.
