Food glorious food: Helping children and young people to develop positive relationships with food and their bodies

Join two members of our vibrant Children and Young People’s Nursing Academics from the University of East Anglia to affirm the importance of nutrition in health and explore the challenges and opportunities around enabling children and young people to develop healthy relationships with food and their bodies.

During this live interactive discussion, we will explore contemporary global health and wellbeing issues surrounding food, eating and nutritional health for children and young people and particularly new knowledge suggesting a change is due in the widespread health promotion message of ‘eating for healthy weight’.

The UEA duo will address a range of compelling questions whilst inviting our audience to join the conversation by sharing their own experiences, insights, and questions.

Throughout the session we will consider the importance of optimising nutrition for beneficial health outcomes for children and young people whilst addressing how to empower individuals to develop relaxed, comfortable, and pleasurable relationships with food, eating and body as opposed to focusing nutrition on body weight, shape, and size.

Suitable for: This session is ideal for groups and individuals studying Health & Social Care, Sociology and Psychology and will be particularly relevant for those with a potential interest in Children and Young People’s Nursing.
