Chloe speaks about the University of Law, what subjects they focus on and the locations they are based in around the country. She goes on to speak about the careers you can go into with a law degree, specifically solicitor and barrister. Chloe explains the differences between the two roles, for example why it is more competitive to be a barrister and why many of them are self-employed. She talks about the current pathways you can take to become a solicitor and barrister, how long they take and training which you will receive. Finally, she touches on the apprenticeship route to becoming a solicitor and how this is different to an undergraduate law course.Personal statement top tips
Emily speaks about what admission tutors are looking for when reading your personal statement such as enthusiasm for your chosen course. She explains why it is important to demonstrate your understanding of the course you will study and shares ways to get started on your writing.
Gaining work experience is not easy in a COVID-19 world and Emily talks about what you can do to overcome your lack of experience. She touches on the transferable skills you can talk to strengthen your application and shares an effective method which ensures your statement includes relevant examples to support what you are saying. Finally, Emily shares her tips for what to include in your personal statement and what to avoid.
