We run talks and workshops for Year 12 and 13 students which can be delivered at your school or college.
How do I write a competitive personal statement?
This session can be delivered either as a presentation or a workshop.
If delivered as a talk we will introduce the personal statement, discuss structure and how to approach it, and we will review an example personal statement together.
We would recommend where possible this is delivered as a workshop in a classroom, as we can facilitate additional activities to plan and write the statement as well as review examples in more depth. Due to preferably delivering this in a classroom, we will usually deliver this workshop multiple times on the same day to cover some or all of a year group.
WHO CAN BOOK THIS SESSION
- This event is only for teachers making bookings for their school groups.
- Individual students interested in events at City, University of London are encouraged to attend an open day, taster day or book a campus tour. More information can be found here: http://www.city.ac.uk/study/visit-us
YEAR GROUPS WE DELIVER THIS SESSION TO AND RECOMMENDED TIME OF YEAR
This session works well either for Year 12s during the time they are planning and working on their statement between April - July of Year 12, or as a workshop focused on reviews and final drafts in Autumn term of Year 13.
RECOMMENDED LENGTH AND LOCATION
This session varies between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on your requirements.
It can be delivered to classroom groups or in large assemblies.
For a talk/assembly we would recommend a minimum of 30 minutes but we can also deliver this talk for up to 1 hour. We would recommend a minimum of 1 hour for a workshop but can deliver this for longer with extended activities if needed.
