Lecture Title: What does it mean to be rich?

Perhaps most people would assume that being rich means having a lot of money and other possessions. A closer, sociological look, however, reveals that the idea of belonging to a low or high social class in fact goes far beyond the mere notion of money and includes certain lifestyles, networks and knowledge. This lecture will provide a brief introduction to the sociological notion of social class.

Questions to be asked:

Do certain jobs alienate us from ourselves?
What does it mean to overcome the opportunity gap?
