Short Session Delivered online
Since its proposal in 1930, the ‘neutrino’ has been keeping scientists on their toes for almost a century. This neutrally charged, almost massless particle is practically undetectable, but it could hold the answer to some of the most fundamental questions we still have about the nature of our Universe.
Observing and understanding all there is to know about the neutrinorequires a combination of state-of-the-art detection techniques and high-powered computing facilities. This talk will introduce the captivating world of neutrino physics research through an exploration of historic milestones, how we exploit the ever-changing landscape of modern technology and our plans for uncovering the secrets of the Universe in the next few decades.
