Full event details

The musical Oklahoma! by Rodgers and Hammerstein is often considered a turning point in Broadway history. In this session, we'll consider how the musical came about, including its roots in the rarely-performed play Green Grow the Lilacs, and look at its enduring popularity. We'll also think about the importance of the choreographer Agnes de Mille to telling the story of this show, and reflect on how we can locate the contribution of women to Broadway in an era when not a single musical had music by a woman.
