Join us for a friendly online taster lecture to find out what it might be like to study paramedic science at university.
Session time: Monday 11 November, 16.00-16.45
Join Ryan Goodman, UEA Paramedic Science lecturer, to delve into a Paramedic response bag, the set of essential kit used when a paramedic is called to an emergency.
The session will introduce you to a variety of equipment and software, with the additional opportunity to review a 4-stage approach to Airway Management and discuss how to overcome complex challenges within a pre-hospital setting.
We will see that the kit is only as good as the paramedic’s underlying knowledge and skills which enable them to use equipment effectively in challenging environments and situations.
Ryan will then put the exercise into context by introducing the BSc Paramedic Science programme at UEA, explaining how the course prepares undergraduates for a high intensity, dynamic and rewarding career in Paramedic practice – and perhaps more importantly, consider how becoming a Paramedic is not necessarily about ‘what kit you have’.
We invite you to join in the discussion or simply observe, with an opportunity at the end to ask any questions you have about Paramedic Science and practice.
Please note that, although the session is scheduled to end at 16:45, Ryan will stay on until 17:00 to answer further questions.
Suitable for: This workshop is suitable for those aspiring to become a Paramedic, those interested in further study or higher education in pursuit of a career in healthcare or for those who simply want to enhance their understanding of the role and profession.
