Join us to celebrate the Rebel Women of Sunderland on International Women’s Day, in collaboration with The Rebel Women of Sunderland project.
Friday 7th March, 10am - 11:30am
The Rebel Women of Sunderland is a project that shines a light on the lives of remarkable women from Sunderland.
Each year to mark International Women’s Day, we focus on different inspirational women, connected to Sunderland and this year’s Rebel Women are artist Audrey Amiss and footballer Demi Stokes.
The event will give sixth-form students a greater understanding of the importance of celebrating a diverse range of women and what they can learn from them.
Students will learn how to write Haiku poetry to celebrate these Rebel Women. One thing many of the Rebel Women have in common is that they campaigned to help those who are less advantaged than they are. With this in mind, students will be encouraged to use Haikus to set up or promote an existing charity in their school to support their peers – possibly a food bank or hygiene bank.
This event is open to students in Year 12 and 13.
