Join us for a friendly online taster lecture to support your current studies and find out what it might be like to study business at university.
Session time: Tuesday 21 January, 09.10-09.55
Recent geopolitical tensions have been marked by several high-profile conflicts and disputes. The Russia-Ukraine war has escalated into a major international crisis, leading to severe sanctions on Russia, disruptions in global energy supplies, and significant refugee movements. Meanwhile, the US-China trade war continues to strain relations between the two largest economies, with tariffs, technology restrictions, and disputes over Taiwan heightening tensions. Additionally, ongoing instability in the Middle East, and political unrest in several regions, further contribute to a volatile global landscape that affects international business and economic stability.
This interactive lecture on the impact of geopolitical tensions on international business will provide an opportunity to explore how geopolitical conflicts—such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the US-China trade war—disrupt international trade, alter investment flows, and influence market dynamics. Professor Helen (Tianjiao) Xia will share insights from her latest cutting-edge research on geopolitical tensions and multinational enterprises’ (MNEs) international strategies.
