Are you an art and design teacher? Our specialist arts campus at The Grove has a staff development day on Friday 13th June 2025 from 9.30am to 3.15pm.
This day is specifically for school and FE college Art and Design staff, we would like to offer you the opportunity to meet the teaching team, visit our Graduate Degree Show and participate in creative workshops as part of a staff development day. The day will allow for you to attend either one four-hour workshop or two two-hour workshops.
Bookbinding - A basic introduction to bookbinding. We will be making three books; 3 hole pamphlet, Japanese stab binding & Coptic
Open Screen Mono printing - Experimenting with monoprint using a variety of different forms of mark making.
Ceramics introduction - Ceramics workshop beginner intro/wheel
Life Drawing projections - Explore the relationship between the model and the setting in a fun and relaxed approach. Experimenting with colour, texture and pattern.
Print off the Page - Creating a collective Typographical poster using the risograph before making this AR enabled using Artivive.
Advanced Digital Camera Studio Workshop - Working with our high-end Canon mirrorless digital SLR cameras and industry standard lighting equipment you will get the chance to shoot images of a model in our specialist photographic studios on campus. We will then share your digital files with you afterwards.
Advanced Analogue Printing techniques in the Black and White Darkrooms - Working with our darkroom technicians you will have the opportunity to experiment with analogue printing techniques in the Black and White Darkrooms making Chemi grams, photograms and Cyanotype prints to take away with you.
Introduction to textile screen-printing - Natural Dyeing with Shibori techniques
Introduction to natural dyeing using food waste and shibori clamping resist dye techniques - Textile and fashion techniques into a product, Including weave, knit, embroidery, embellishment, sewing.
Designing Narrative with Gameplay - Design and create a paper prototype of a game together and iterate on the ideas to produce an edited version. Followed by a discussion of rapid prototyping, drafting, editing, game balance, and art brief writing.
Augmented Reality Application. Designing the Future: Create Your Own AR App - Step into the world of Augmented Reality! In this hands-on session, you'll explore how AR works, brainstorm creative app ideas, and design a concept for your own AR experience. No coding needed—just imagination and a passion for digital media. See your ideas come to life!
Virtual Performance - Using Virtual Production technology, including programmes like Blender, to create virtual characters and dramas for Games and Animation
Theatre Arts - Live Camera and Projection on stage - Experiment with live camera feed and projection as you learn more about tech, equipment and software.
Music - Build a tuned metal-ophone - Make a xylophone with keys picked to play a famous riff/song-phrase.
Interiors - Thresholds of space - Explore the notion of thresholds and spatial encounters
Light refreshments on arrival and lunch will be provided.
