Outreach Team
We collaborate closely with students, teachers, and advisors to offer guidance, advice, and information. Our objective is to increase awareness of the advantages of higher education by organising various events and activities.
We provide impartial information to potential students via workshops and presentations on any topic related to higher education. Additionally, the team creates customized workshops for students in schools and colleges, as well as higher education information for post-16 tutors and advisors.
Subject taster events

Widening Participation (WP)
Our WP program is focused on students from schools and colleges with low higher education enrolment rates and under-represented groups. We arrange a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness of higher education and broadening aspirations. Moreover, we conduct workshops and presentations to support the transition between key stages.
The Pathfinder Project is aimed at year 10 students and will last for two years. The
project is designed to offer students an understanding of their future and how to get there by making the link between aspirations and attainment.
Taste of University is residential summer school is designed specifically for year 12 students or those studying the first year of a level 3 qualification at college. This event gives students the experience of what being at university is like.
Taste of University will run at the Exton Park Campus in Chester from 4 – 7 July 2023.
All meals, accommodation and activities are free, however applying for a place is essential. The summer school is open to all year 12 students, however if oversubscribed, priority will be given to underrepresented groups. Follow this

Get Connected is
onlie mentoring in partnership with Brightside – this scheme matches offer holders from widening participation backgrounds to a current student mentor who supports their transition to university, during the summer, before starting their studies in September.
Open Days
These events give you an excellent chance to gain a genuine sense of our courses and student life at Chester before you apply. You’ll have the chance to attend informative subject talks, interact with lecturers and current students, tour the campus, investigate accommodation options, and receive guidance from our knowledgeable staff on topics like the application process and student finance.
