Why Hull?

The University of Hull has been changing the way people think for over 90 years. Our motto, Lampada Ferens, translates as ‘carrying the light of learning’, and, over the years, we have shared that light with thousands of people from across the world. As England’s 14th-oldest university, we have a proud heritage of academic excellence and a history of conducting and inspiring life-changing research. And we have no plans to stop; shaping a fairer, brighter and carbon neutral future for all.

The University of Hull is the only Official University Partner of Team GB. The exclusive partnership covers a six-year period and includes the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. It includes exclusive opportunities that will benefit our students, staff and communities. We believe that there’s extraordinary in everyone, and together with Team GB, we can help you find it.

Careers and Employability

Hull graduates are in high demand. A huge 95.9% of them go into work or further study within six months of finishing their degree*, thanks, in part, to career-focussed opportunities and award-winning support. We can help students build confidence and create links with industry, so they’re one step closer to the job they want. Our students have gained career-inspiring placements and experience with BMW, Disney, L’Oréal, IBM, Jaguar Land Rover, Game Republic, Intel and BP to name a few.
