The guest speakers for this event are Professor Polly Low, a Professor in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University, Justine T. Wolfenden, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University and Dr Ian Goh, a Lecturer in Classics, Ancient History & Egyptology at Swansea University.

An introduction to classics and ancient history at university
Polly explains that at the heart of studying ancient history is Ancient Greece and Rome. She talks about the different topics you can cover and how this is a diverse degree with a lot of flexibility and choice. She goes on to speak about the types of modules on offer and why it is important to do your research before choosing a course that is right for you.

Most students opt to study only classics and ancient history but some may be interested in other subjects too. Polly explains what joint-honours degrees are and how your course is structured if you choose this option. Finally, she shares application tips and touches on the different ways you will be assessed on this degree.

Ian speaks about the different routes into studying classics and ancient history at university. He explains how you are able to look into any aspect of ancient culture and talks about a broad range of modules based on your interests.
