Short Session Delivered at your school/college
This talk discovers phosphorus, which was first isolated nearly 400 years ago from human urine. It has had an amazing history that ranges from alchemy and the search for the philosopher’s stone, right up to the modern era and the discovery of herbicides, nerve agents, DNA fingerprinting and detergents.
The Discover Programme consists of subject-specific lectures and workshops aimed at Year 12 or Year 1 college students, delivered by academics that teach at the University.
These sessions are designed to both complement the curriculum and introduce new subject areas.
