Full event details

This Be Inspired Day will feature a full day of exciting activities that will lead you to explore some of the programme’s offerings in the School of Computer Science.  You will learn how to code your first computer game, program a mobile app with the latest AI models and build a little autonomous robot!

BSC (Hons) Robotics:

Title: "Build your own robot"
Description: "In this activity, the students will build their own little robot that can sense the light in the environment and react to it, for example, following the light. Through this activity, they will learn what actually constitutes a robot and discover how seemingly intelligent behaviours can sometimes emerge from simple designs."

BSc (Hons) Games Computing:

Title: "An Intro into Game Programming"
Description: "In this activity, the students will be able to program their own game! They will start with a predefined template game that they will have to fill in order to make the character move, collect coins, fight with enemies, etc. No programming knowledge is required, you will find plenty of snippet examples to integrate in your game!"

BSc (Hons) Computer Science:

Title: "Making smartphones smart: mobile and cloud computing for object recognition"
Description: "In this activity, the students will build an android app using Android Studio. This will give a taster of modern mobile app development using specialised AI cloud services for processing and tagging images taken with a smartphone camera."

Timings: 10am - 2.30pm
