Institution Profile

Hello from City, University of London’s Schools Liaison Team

Our connections to business, practice and the professions and our location in the global city of London are at the heart of what makes City unique.

City students are able to take advantage of London's culture, history, intellectual and sporting life. They have access to superb educational offerings that are not only globally distinctive but that support them in achieving their personal goals.

At City, we build successful and fulfilling careers and take pride in our innovative approach to education and research. It is why every one of our undergraduate courses has an embedded placement module. We want our students to go out and get great jobs and we want to continue making a difference – to our students and to the world around us.

Schools Liaison activity at City includes attending HE Fairs and running talks, workshops and activities to support students, parents, and teachers and advisers across the UK with applications to university.

Information for students

We provide a range of support for students throughout the application cycle to support their transition to university.

Students can book themselves onto sessions such as:

  • Undergraduate Open Days
  • Taster days and sessions
  • Virtual events focused on topics such as the personal statement and UCAS application process

There will be clear text in the event listing if events can only be booked by teachers and advisers. Students can book our events through the link on the event page, or contact us by clicking HERE for more information.

Information for teachers and advisers

We are always happy to hear from schools and colleges about supporting their year 12 and 13 students with their transition to higher education. To book an activity, please email us on [email protected].

We provide high quality presentations to students, staff and parents related to higher education. These presentations can be delivered online, at your institution or at City, University of London.

Typical talks include a focus on aspects such as:

  • University: what's it all about?
  • Where can a degree take me?
  • How do I choose where and what to study?
  • How do I apply to university?
  • How do I tackle the personal statement?
  • How will I fund my studies?
  • A day in the life: what’s it like being a City student?
  • Why study at City?
  • References / UCAS Process / Personal statements for teachers and advisers
  • A parent’s guide to Higher Education
  • Making the most of year 12

The talks are designed to encourage and support students through the application process, whilst informing them about what City, University of London has to offer. The programme of talks is constantly being reviewed and updated so most requests can be catered for.

These talks are designed for groups of Year 12 and 13 students with a general interest in Higher Education and who, ideally, would be expecting to meet the City entry requirements for their chosen programme.

Subject specific talks

We can also arrange subject specific talks, delivered by City, University of London's lecturers. If you would like to involve our lecturers in your next round of subject talks, please do get in touch and we will aim to support your programme of events.

These talks are designed for groups of Year 12 and Year 13 students with a specific subject interest, who would be expected to meet the entry requirements for their appropriate programme.

This is a free service and most sessions last between 30 minutes and one hour, although it is possible to alter the sessions depending upon the needs of the school/college.

City. It starts with you.
